Nex3 Communications poised for huge growth in Detroit, Chicago
metromode, 8/21/2008
Flat Rock's
Nex3 Communications
has found its niche by providing cable, phone and Internet services to apartments in the Midwest.
"We saw a niche for large apartment buildings (100 units or bigger) not being served well," says Bob Arndt, CEO of Nex3 Communications.
That sweet spot is paying off for the 3-year-old company. It started off with co-founders Arndt,
Patrick Durrenmatt
and Nick
Triantafel
and now employs nine people while looking into starting an internship program.
Today Nex3 Communications has 12 contracts covering 2,400 apartment units. It plans to reach 20,000 units within the next year. Arndt says the company should accomplish that sooner rather than later because it expects to sign some big contracts and take in some venture capital by this fall.
That growth should mean 25-30 new hires in the next year. Most of those will come in the Detroit and Chicago areas where Arndt sees the company's "best prospects for growth."
"We're going to have to add a lot of new employees," Arndt says.
