Dandy Andy: Special Warhol Grand Slam live sight & sound event features Detroit's nospectacle

The bases are still loaded at Cranbrook Art Museum, where the three-month exhibition dedicated to Pop Art icon Andy Warhol is still up for another two months. The show is called Andy Warhol: Grand Slam and brings together more than 200 signature works spanning all areas of his practice from the 1960s until his death in 1987, including paintings, photos, prints and films. The exhibition runs until Jan. 11 and features live sound and sight events. Last month, Cranbrook hosted Berlin-based artist Klimek, who thrilled a packed gallery with his melodramatic pop ambient sound and video works. It was a memorable, one-of-a-kind performance.

On Friday, Nov. 28, Cranbrook welcomes nospectacle, a Detroit-based sound/video project no stranger to readers for FilterD. The group performed at the Max. M. Fisher Music Center earlier this year as part of a Model D speaker series event held during the DSO's "8 Days in June" festival, played with post-dubstep innovator Kode9 at the Crofoot Ballroom and at Movement '08, Detroit's Electronic Music Festival.

The knives come out for a Warhol-inspired nospectacle 90-minute performance beginning at 8 p.m. There is a cash bar. Come early and see this extraordinary exhibition. Museum admission is $10 and $4 for students. Cranbrook Art Museum members are free. Sign up for membership here.
