Dawne Velianoff's dance card is always booked solid. A party girl and Ferndale resident, she starts off the week drinking blonde draft beers at the
Woodward Avenue Brewery (22646 Woodward Ave., 248-546-3696), known affectionately as "The WAB" .
She also favors the "excellent Riesling wine", served with po' boys at
Howe's Bayou (22848 Woodward Ave., 248-691-7145). "Kirk is my favorite server," she says.
For DJs and cheap saketinis, she heads to the chic Sakana Sushi Lounge (22914 Woodward Ave., 248-336-2555) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
After a long night partying, Dawn likes to wake up slow with breakfast at the
Fly Trap Diner (22950 Woodward Ave., 248-399-5150), and the Bloody Mary bar on Sundays at The Emory (22700 Woodward Ave., 248-546-8202). "They have everything you can think of for your Bloody Mary…hot sauce, pickles, shrimp, sausage, peppers…" she says.
She also recommends the vegetarian menu and homemade wine at
Om Café (23136 Woodward Ave., 248-548-1941).
For shopping, Dawn frequents thrift stores, like Mother Fletcher's (234 W. Nine Mile Rd., 248-398-4816) and
Regeneration (23700 Woodward Ave., Pleasant Ridge, 248-414-7440). She says the lesser-known
Naka (171 W. 9 Mile Rd., 248-582-9113) "has trendy clothing and really amazing accessories."
