Oakwood Healthcare System opens revamped downriver Southshore Medical Center
metromode, 6/26/2008
There are second acts in life. Just look at
Oakwood Healthcare System's
Southshore Medical Center. The 181-bed hospital on Fort Street in Trenton just reopened after a $64 million renovation and expansion. The project, part of Oakwood's Southshore Promise, is determined to deliver better health-care services in the downriver area.
Oakwood expanded the hospital's physical campus, advanced services and enhanced community outreach. The new five-story addition features technologically advanced surgical suites, operating rooms and patient recovery areas, along with a new Emergency Department, an expanded Radiology Department and a 160-seat auditorium.
The original hospital has been serving Metro Detroit's downriver community since 1961.
