IMRA America was established in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1990. The company is a world leader in the research and development, manufacturing, and application of ultrafast and short-pulsed fiber lasers.
Research, development, prototyping and manufacturing is carried out at the company's Ann Arbor Headquarters where it has assembled a world-class research and engineering team.
IMRA's fiber lasers combine state-of-the-art design with ultracompact packaging, high stability, and maintenance-free operation. They are designed for use in material research and processing, semiconductor inspection and repair, multiphoton applications, telecommunication, test and measurement, instrumentation, and medical diagnostics and therapy.
IMRA America also disseminates its own patented technologies by licensing them to third parties in order to grow the ultrafast laser market more rapidly. Its intellectual property portfolio includes more than 80 national and international patents.
IMRA America's staff of 55 works in collaboration with researchers at the Center for Ultrafast Optical Science at the University of Michigan and with its facility in Fremont, California.
IMRA's parent company is Japan-based Aisin Seiki.
